Orissa has the largest variety of tribal communities, which are at various stages of socio-economic development. At one extreme are the groups which lead a relatively secluded and archaic mode of life, keeping their core culture intact, while at the other extreme there are communities which are indistinguishable from the general agricultural communities. The tribal people express their cultural identity and distinctiveness in their social organization, language, rituals and festivals and also in their dress, ornaments, art and craft. ITINERARY & PRICES
Day 01: (Thursday): Arrive Delhi
Arrive in Delhi. On arrival, you will be welcomed by our representative at International Airport and transferred to Lemon Tree Aerocity-Superior room or similar. (Room will be booked from 2pm). Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 02: (Friday): Delhi - Bhubaneswar (by flight) (BLD)
Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Bhubaneswar. (Baggage allowance on this flight is 33 lbs and 15 lbs hand luggage). Upon arrival, transfer to FORTUNE PARK SHISHMO HOTEL or similar. Later visit some of the most enchanting Temples of the city. Bhubaneswar is Famous as Temple City where still now more than 700 ancients Temples. The most important Temples of Bhubaneswar are Parasurameswar Temple of 7th Century AD, Mukteswar Temple (10th century AD ), Rajarani Temple (11th Century AD) and Lingaraj Temple (Later part of 11th Century AD -Non Hindus are not allowed to enter inside the Premises of Lingaraj Temple). Day 03: (Saturday): Bhubaneswar - Raghurajpur - Puri (drive 4 Hrs) (BLD)
After breakfast, we drive to Puri, en-route visiting Dhauli Peace Pagoda, Pipili Appliqué Village and Raghurajpur Artisan Village among other attractions on the way. Arrive at Puri and check in at HANS COCO PALM HOTEL or similar. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 04: (Sunday): Puri - Konark - Puri (drive 1 Hr one way) (BLD)
After breakfast proceed for excursion to Konark, the famous Sun Temple. Later return to Puri and enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of the city. Visit the famous Lord Jagannath Temple (from outside as non Hindus are not allowed to enter), Narendra Tank, Bazaar among other attractions of Puri. Overnight at the Hotel
Day 05: (Monday): Puri - Chilika - Gopalpur (drive 5 Hrs) (BLD)
After breakfast drive to Gopalpur en-route visiting Coastal Orissa Villages. Here you can meet and interact with the local people and enjoy their culture and traditions. Also visit Chilka lake where enjoy the boat ride to see migratory birds. On arrival, check-in at SWASTI PALM RESORT or similar. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 06: (Tuesday): Gopalpur - Taptapani - Rayagada (drive 5 Hrs) (BLD)
After breakfast drive to Rayagada en-route visit Behrampur silk weaving street and Taptapani hot suplheric spring water. Also visit Saura tribal villages and interact with the tribal life in their hamlet. Overnight at SAI INTERNATIONAL HOTEL or similar.
Day 07: (Wednesday): Rayagada - Chhatikona - Jeypore (drive 5 Hrs) (BLD)
Weekly Market commence only on Wednesday. Early morning drive to Chhatikona, the weekly colorful Dongaria Kondh market. Dongarias are one of the two main primitive tribes that we will see on our tour. Dongarias come down with their forest product to sell/ barter with non tribals and it is an interesting event to watch. They are called Dongria or dweller of donger ("hill" in Oriya) and settle in higher altitudes due to their economic demands. The Dongria Kond call themselves Jharnia meaning those who live by the Jharana (streams). Hundreds of perennial streams flow from Niyamgiri hill, and there are hundreds of Dongria villages by the streams. The Dongria are considered the protectors of these streams, hills and jungles by the people of the nearby plains. They recently won a major environmental battle, when they could not be displaced by the government who wanted to mine their hills. Have picnic lunch and later visit the Mali tribe and interact with the tribal community. Overnight at LEMON CASTLE HOTEL or similar.
Day 08: (Thursday): Jeypore - Onkudelli - Jeypore (drive 4 Hrs) (BLD)
Weekly Market commence only on Thursday. Early morning drive to Onkudelli the most interesting market of Bondas/ Gadabas/Didayees. Later visit Gadaba tribal villages. The tribe is one of the oldest and most primitive in mainland India; their culture has changed little for more than a thousand years. Their isolation and known aggressiveness continue to preserve their culture despite the pressures of an expanding Indian population. Afternoon drive to Kangarapada soft walk to primitive boro gadaba tribal villages, interact with this tribe with the assistance of our experienced guide who knows the tribal dialect. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 09: (Friday): Jeypore-Nagarner-Jagdalpur (drive 5 Hrs) (BLD)
After breakfast proceed to visit Baligaon and the Halba tribal market. Also visit the Gond tribal village. Later drive to Jagdalpur en-route visit Kotpad weaving village. In the afternoon visit the beautiful weekly market at Nagarner. Overnight at BASTAR JUNGLE RESORT.
Day 10: (Saturday): Jagdalpur (BLD)
Day excursion to the Kanger valley National park to discover Dhurwa tribe, leaving in the core area of Sanctuary. Also we will witness beautiful Stalagtite and Stalacmite Caves along with serene Water fall called Tiradgarh Cascade. Late afternoon visit the Tribal Museum. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 11: (Sunday): Jagdalpur - Kondagaon - Kanker (drive 4 Hrs) (BLD)
After breakfast drive to Kanker. Visit Nayennar village to see the Bison Horn dance of Maria tribes. We will stop at Bahigaon to see Gutul Dance of the Muria tribe. It is the dance of the bachelors. Gutul means dormitories where young boys and girls are encouraged to mingle before their marriages. Packed lunch will be at Silk processing plant. Later visit Kondagaon to see lost wax technique of brass idol making. Arrive and check in at KANKER PALACE HOTEL or similar. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 12: (Monday): Kanker - Raipur (drive 4 Hrs) (BLD)
After breakfast drive to Raipur en-route visit Halba village and the village of country cigar. On arrival, transfer to ZONE BY PARK HOTEL or similar. Afternoon visit the Ghasidas Museum in Raipur. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 13: (Tuesday): Raipur - Delhi (By flight) (BLD)
After a leisurely breakfast transfer to airport to board the flight to Delhi. (Baggage allowance on this flight is 33lbs and 15lbs hand luggage). Arrive and transfer to Lemon Tree Aerocity-Superior room or similar. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 14: (Wednesday): Delhi Departure
On time transfer to International terminal to board the flight for onward journey. (Room will be available till 12pm)
